Limited Edition Painted Drums
Our special collection of Hand Painted Limited Edition Drum Heads. These are master pieces of the Native American Ceremonial motive. Each piece is hand crafted to produce a unique work of art that will be handed down for generations to come. Historically, Native Americans used natural dyes and coloring gathered from Mother Earth to apply designs to their drum-heads. Today, local artisans commonly use acrylics, oil or natural earth pigment to apply their designs. For centuries, Pueblo drums have been painted with symbolic colors and designs to bring a special unifying power to tribal ceremony. The Painted Limited Edition Drums combine the traditional with new directions in the ancient craft of drum making by utilizing the tri-cultural artistic resources from Native Americans.
Since no two trees are exactly alike and no two hides identical, when you order a Taos Drums you will received a singular work of art, created by Native American craftspeople from one-of-a-kind natural materials. The Native drum is recognized as a separate entity and represents a liaison with our Creator, containing thunder and lightening, and when struck calls the Creators attention and the spirits of our forefathers.
In Native traditions it is believed that the drum is a living thing & the spirit of the animals & trees of which the drum is made, live in the drum. When a drum finds a partner , it is a life-long relationship. Drumming can provide solace, relief from anger, courage when afraid, unites drummer with all life form - a single heartbeat restoring balance & harmony, which can heal & soothe the mind & reach to our very soul.
